Bark India Charitable Trust recently collaborated with ADORE Earth to conduct an engaging and thought-provoking webinar titled “Current Stray Dog Issues in India: Reasons and Solutions.” The session aimed to create awareness around the growing challenges related to stray dogs and the urgent need for humane, long-term solutions rooted in compassion and coexistence.
The webinar featured an insightful session by our co-founder, Ms. Liyona George, an animal rights activist, vegan activist, and ocean advocate. With over 13 years of hands-on experience in the animal welfare field, she shared ground-level realities of stray dog issues in India, addressing common misconceptions, causes such as irresponsible breeding, abandonment, lack of sterilisation, and gaps in public awareness.

Ms. Liyona highlighted the importance of humane approaches like the Animal Birth Control (ABC) programme, vaccination, community involvement, and responsible human behaviour. She strongly emphasized that cruelty and conflict are not solutions—education, empathy, and cooperation are. As India’s first RAID-certified Ecological Diver and a PADI Master Scuba Diver, she also drew powerful connections between animal welfare, environmental balance, and sustainable coexistence.
At Bark India, we firmly believe that education is the foundation for change. Creating awareness about coexisting peacefully with animals and respecting the environment is central to our mission. Collaborations like this webinar allow us to reach wider audiences and inspire meaningful action.
We are grateful to ADORE Earth for this opportunity and look forward to collaborating with more NGOs, institutions, and communities in the future to educate, advocate, and act—for a kinder and more compassionate India. 🐾🌱
